You remember those illegal immigrants who were far too numerous to deal with? The ones we couldn’t possible deport? Well, as noted a couple of years ago, illegal immigrants are mobile. If the jobs aren’t available here, they’ll leave.
And that’s just what’s been happening with the economic downturn (chart taken from the DHS report):
Yes, in two years a million people have left the country. That argues that enforcement of immigration law at the employer level could deal with the majority of the illegal immigration problem.
And it shows quite clearly that the problem is tractable.

Very interesting. Pull the ticket of employers hiring illegal workers; save the gov billions in medical subsidy and law enforcement. It’s too easy.
