Apparently I grossly underestimated the caliber of our legal system: I had no idea that it terrifies lawyers worldwide:
Fear of the American legal system has created an atmosphere in which lawyers working for European businesses would prefer to face a major dispute in Russia or China than the US, a study has revealed.A survey of 180 in-house counsel working in five European countries identified the US as the jurisdiction they were keenest to avoid, with 29 per cent naming it the country they were most concerned about facing a major dispute in.
Kudos to the American legal establishment – here’s one area where we still dominate the Russians and Chinese.

And what angers me the most is the fact that an allegedly pro-business President and Congress for 4 of the last 8 years has done nothing about it.

Well, could it be that any legal dispute in Russia or China can be settle with a large bribe to the right person? Not to lessen the horrible nature of our litigation system, but there is no law what so ever in Russia or China. Their systems are administrative and run by corrupt bureaucrats mascarading as a legal system.

I wonder if that’s based on American damage calculations, rather than the system itself.
